When to Schedule Beauty Appointments for your Wedding or Event
Spray Tans
Spray tanning should be done 48hrs prior to any makeup appointment to allow the bronzer to clear from the pores and lessen the risk of transfer to your dress (especially if you are going to be wearing something white or light!) It is almost always recommended to include the face when having a spray tan to ensure continuity of tone from your body to face, even for a makeup appointment.
Nail Services
Whether your nail service is a manicure, pedicure or nail enhancements such as acrylics or gels, it is always suggested to have this done prior to having a spray tan, (if you’re having one). This is so that the tan doesn’t stain your fingernails or toenails, and because a manicure or pedicure service includes exfoliation, hot towelling and massage which will reduce the life of your tan and may give an uneven result.
Lash and Brow
Lash and brow tinting can be done at any stage, but it is usually recommended 48hrs prior at the earliest to ensure a true colour result as tints fade by 25% once done, and some clients don’t feel comfortable with the initial colour boldness of the tint. For any brow lamination, lash lift or lash extensions services you will need to avoid any water or steam to the area which would indicate that you’ll want to have your lash and brow services done prior to a spray tan, especially if you intend on having your brows shaped with wax or threading methods.
Waxing
Waxing should be done 72hrs prior to any spray tan appointment. For those that aren’t familiar with how they may react to waxing treatments it’s advised to either have a practice run well ahead of time, or to have this done about 5-7 days out from the wedding or event to allow the skin to settle if sensitised. Please always consult with your treating beauty therapist.
Facials
Facials are not only relaxing, they can assist in promoting a clear, well hydrated and youthful complexion. Your treating beauty therapist can prescribe the correct treatment plan and at home care to ensure your skin is in perfect condition for your wedding day. Your makeup is only ever going to be as good as the skin it’s on. Classic facials include a double cleanse, exfoliation with steam, extractions (if desired), massage, masque, customised serum infusion, toner, moisturiser and SPF application along with beautiful hot towelling throughout. Brides are suggested not to start a new facial routine close to time. It’s best to commence 3-6 months ahead of the wedding day at monthly intervals, or whatever your beauty therapist suggests. Facials should be done before the spray tan appointment, or with 48hrs clearance either side for lash lifting, lash extensions, brow lamination. Waxing of any kind on the face should ideally be done 72hrs either side at a bare minimum.
Hair Colour and Cutting
Please always follow the advice of your treating hair colourist at they will know your hair best. Generally speaking, blonde and lightening services should be done 1 week prior to the wedding day, and darkening or tinting services the week of. Cutting should be done at your colour appointment, of if you know your hairdresser is typically a bit too keen on the scissors, opt 2-3 weeks prior to allow things to settle or be revisited if necessary.
