Spray tan do’s and don’ts for the perfect tan result

How to Prepare:

  • Waxing is best done minimum 48hrs prior.

  • Shaving is best done 6-24hrs prior to your appointment to allow pores to settle and reduce the chance of ‘black dots’ forming.

  • Exfoliating is best done 6-12 hours prior or the night before to allow pores to settle before your appointment.

  • Please arrive with clean skin free from deodorant, makeup, moisturiser or perfume.

  • Do not use any body/face washes or lotions that contain fragrances or mineral oils as this can affect the result.

What to bring:

  • Dark loose cotton type clothing to wear after your tan – no silk or satin as these fabrics tend to absorb moisture.

  • Wear loose fitting shoes like sandals (unless raining, loose fitting covered shoes/socks)

  • Any clothing you may prefer to wear whilst being sprayed. Please note that tan can stain clothing, so dark coloured old clothes are best. Disposable hair nets, “sticky feet” and g-strings provided.

  • If it’s raining bring suitable attire to ensure your tan does not get ruined. A hoodie, track pants and a towel are best for wet weather conditions.

At your appointment:

  • At your appointment I will discuss your tan wish list in terms of colour result, expectations and any concerns.

  • All requests are determined once assessing each individual’s skin type as everybody reacts differently.

  • Spray Tans take approximately 10 minutes but it is suggested to allow 15 minutes.

  • Our Spray Tans typically last anywhere from 7-14 days depending on factors such as skin type, lifestyle and most importantly, your post-tan care regime.

Aftercare:

  • No body wash or soap is to be used after the first initial shower. The first shower should be a brief rinse. The colour you see going down the drain is the cosmetic bronzer (so I can see where I have/haven’t applied) The actual tanning ingredient DHA, will continue to develop. DHA is invisible.

  • No body moisturiser until after your SECOND shower. Moving forward, short showers are best. Avoid bathing.

  • Moisturise every time you shower after your second shower.

  • No high impact exercise for the first 24 hours.

  • Avoid using exfoliants on the skin for the duration of your tan. This includes massages, manicures and pedicures.

  • Avoid chlorinated/heated places such as pools, spas, saunas, steam rooms.

  • Always dry yourself using the ‘wrap & pat’ method with your towel, pressing gently into the skin is best.

  • Make sure to apply sunscreen as spray tans do not contain SPF.

  • Drink plenty of water.
