Flawless Gold Coast Wedding Hair: The Ultimate Guide for Every Face Shape

The essential guide to easily narrowing down your hair inspiration to hair styles that will suit and enhance your face shape.

Are you feeling lost in the sea of wedding hairstyles? Do you have no idea which one will suit your face shape best? Don't worry, I've got your back! As the leading mobile hair and makeup business on the Gold Coast, I have seen it all. So, I’ve put together this ultimate guide to help you choose the perfect wedding hairstyle for your face shape.

I always tell my clients that I design the hair for the face first and the dress second. This is because if you don’t love how the hair frames, accentuates or balances the features of your face, then it doesn’t matter how it looks against the dress.

Round Face Shape:

If you have a round face shape, you want to add some length to your face, so go for hairstyles that have height and volume on top. A half-up, half-down hairstyle with some loose curls will do the trick. Avoid hairstyles that are too short or too tight to the head, as they will only emphasize the roundness of your face.

Square Face Shape:

To soften the angles of a square face, you should go for hairstyles that add volume to the crown and the sides. Loose waves or curls that fall below the chin will flatter your face shape the most. Avoid hairstyles that are too straight or flat, as they will only make your face appear more square.

Oval Face Shape:

Lucky you! If you have an oval face shape, you can pull off almost any hairstyle. From an updo to a ponytail, anything goes. However, if you want to accentuate your face shape, you can try a side part with soft waves or a sleek bun. Avoid styles that cover your face or are too voluminous.

Triangle Face Shape:

If you have a triangle face shape, you want to balance the width of your forehead with the width of your jawline. A side-swept bang or a deep side part with loose curls will do just that. You can also try an updo with some height on top to draw attention away from your jawline. Avoid hairstyles that are too slicked back or that have too much volume at the bottom.

Heart Face Shape:

For a heart-shaped face, you want to add width to the bottom half of your face. A half-up, half-down hairstyle with some loose curls will do the trick. You can also try a side part with some volume at the crown. Avoid hairstyles that are too slicked back or that are too voluminous at the top.

Diamond Face Shape:

To soften the angles of a diamond face shape, you want to go for hairstyles that add volume to the crown and the sides. A side-swept bang or a deep side part with loose curls will flatter your face shape the most. Avoid hairstyles that are too slicked back or that are too voluminous at the bottom.

Rectangle Face Shape:

For a rectangle face shape, you want to add some width to your face. A side-swept bang or a deep side part with loose curls will do the trick. You can also try an updo with some volume on top to balance out your face. Avoid hairstyles that are too flat or that have too much volume at the bottom.

I hope this guide helps you choose the perfect wedding hairstyle for your face shape! Remember, it's all about balance and creating the illusion of the perfect face shape. I am always happy to help you better envision your dream wedding or event look via a private virtual consultation or preview (trial) session. I look forward to meeting you!
